Training Packages

 What are Training Packages:

A training package, in Australia, is a set of nationally endorsed standards, qualifications and guidelines used to recognize and assess the skills and knowledge people need to perform effectively in the workplace.
Training packages consist of endorsed and non-endorsed products. Although all components must be developed to comply with the Standards for Training Packages 20121, endorsed components must be submitted for approval by the Australian Industry and Skills Committee before they are released for use

What are the main components of a Training Package?
Training Packages include three mandatory components which are endorsed by the National Quality Council (NQC). These are the: ƒ

  1. Competency Standards provide units of competency that describe discrete workplace outcomes, with each unit having a unique code and title
  2. Assessment Guidelines describe the industry requirements for assessment.
  3. Australian Qualifications Framework detail how the units of competency are ‘packaged’ into nationally recognized qualifications. The framework also provides the unique codes and titles for these qualifications, and information about skill sets
